What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is an approach for treating mental health issues by talking with a psychologist or another mental health provider. It also is known as talk therapy, counselling or, simply, therapy. 

 

During psychotherapy, you learn about the origins of your specific issues and how your thoughts, emotions and behaviours affect your wellbeing. Talk therapy helps you learn how problems began and how you can change them in your current life.

What Is Psychology?

Psychology is the science of mind and behaviour. Psychologists study human thought, how the brain functions, behaviours, emotions, personality, and human development, and take into account all the different aspects of being a person. 

Psychologists often apply scientific principles to explore relationships between brain function, behavior, and environment. Subspecialists within the field include clinical or counselling psychologists, who treat emotional well-being and behaviour; forensic psychologists, who may work within the judicial system; sports psychologists; organizational psychologists; and more.

Tanya specialises in the Psychodynamic approach but is also able to offer Compassion Focussed Therapy and Mindfulness based approaches. Suitability for each model is discussed during the consultation.

Tanya is able to offer therapy online or in person to enable flexibility for clients.

Sessions cost between £77-£95. Please enquire for more details.

Tanya is registered with most Private Medical insurance companies also, sessions through insurance are charged at £100-120.
